Sand Hollow Golf Course Hurricane UtahSand Hollow Resort in Hurricane is Southern Utah’s latest and greatest golf development. Sand Hollow Golf Course has earned excellent reviews from the start.

Yes, this is THE course that graced the cover of Golf Week Magazine’s March 11, 2011 “Best Courses” edition. Golf Week thinks Sand Hollow is Utah’s #1 golf course – who are we to argue with that? Sand Hollow was also listed #6 in Golf Magazine’s Best New Courses list for 2008, the year Sand Hollow opened.

Sand Hollow features three separate courses: the par 72, 7319-yard championship course, 9-hole par 36 St. Andrews style links course and an 18-hole, greens-only putting course. The nine-hole links course was designed after the early Scottish traditions of the game.

Both courses feature five tee boxes on each hole, so golfers of all abilities will enjoy play. A scratch golfer will be challenged from the black tees, an 8 handicap golfer will get a thrill playing the blue tees, and a 20 handicap golfer will have a great golf experience playing the white tees.

Former PGA Tour winner and 1977 U.S. Amateur Champion John Fought designed Sand Hollow, which is expertly perched atop rolling red rock ridges that jut out of a red sand sea. The Sand Hollow bunkers Hurricane Utahridge top elevation provides uninterrupted views of southern Utah’s most famous natural wonders and the course itself is extremely well manicured with aesthetic highlights from hard edges and desert-scaping.

Sand Hollow extends the St. George area golf experience to another dimension. The brilliant course design will intrigue you on every turn with its picturesque, yet playable layout. Breathtaking red rock views in a stunning natural setting provide fresh perspective as you survey the surrounding area from rare vantage points. Plush fairways and meticulous greens afford no excuses, while the steep ridge lines, deep canyons and expansive elevations create one of the most incredible golf experiences in the West.

Sand Hollow Cliff southern Utah“Sand Hollow rivals the best courses in the state,” said sales director Darrel Stephens. “This is a public course and is designed to challenge good players. There are thoughtful risk/reward challenges to every shot,” Stephens said. “Combine that with the rock cliffs and spectacular views throughout and you’re in for a great round.”

Besides a camera full of pictures, you’ll happily remember Sand Hollow by the pair of socks you wore on the course – they’re pink now, but used to be white – the red sand bunker stains last just as long as your memories.

Sand Hollow Golf Course is A MUST DO on any golfers list of courses to play. Is that consistent with your thoughts about Sand Hollow? Please leave a review below!

I love Sand Hollow! We only played the back nine, but it is definitely my favorite course. I was amazed at how they fit a course in the rocks! Super pretty course. The conditions were awesome when we were there, but it was also a day or so after the course opened. Prices can be steep, but that also depends on what type of golfer you are. I totally recommend Sand Hollow

Just tell them that your are looking at some Sand Hollow Golf Homes and Real Estate and they might give you a big discount. Excellent course but not quite the value of other St. George Championship Courses. This course was pretty tough when I played as the grass was a bit dry and the ball wouldn’t stop on some of the steep slopes. Amazing design and view though.

You can’t go wrong with this course. One of the best I have played. I bring 50 golfers every summer from California to Mesquite for our annual tournament and this is the one course that is talked about more than any of the others. Aesthetically speaking, you won’t find a course even close in the area. The fairways are immaculate. The greens run fast and true. The scenery is beautiful. The staff is attentive. Can’t say a bad thing about the course except that there was no clubhouse. Well, coming next year, the clubhouse will be done so that takes care of my only gripe. Do yourself a BIG FAVOR and make this part of your trip to St George. You won’t regret it!

Sand Hollow is a fantastic course. Play the links 9, doubt if you need tee times for it. We played it on a real windy day which just made it better. #1 on the Championship course must have a fairway 100 yards wide, great for that first swing.

Don’t skip this course! If you are in the Southern Utah area, make sure you play here. Heck, even if you’re in Vegas it’s worth the trip to Hurricane.

From the course layout to the incredible views, to the immaculately maintained tee boxes, fairways and greens, this was a treat to play.

Though there were a couple of tricky holes, nothing that was confusing to the point of frustration that we found in the other two courses.

I can’t say enough about the conditions and the scenery, especially on the back 9, where you start playing alongside dramatic cliffs. Oh – don’t go left on some of these holes. It’s a long way down!
